| Heaven on High -- like they'd be anywhere else |

And you also won't find a thing in Christianity (or Judaism) about souls ascending to the moon and leaving the body on earth. The body IS left behind for a while, yes -- but it will be restored in resurrection. There's no other religion that holds that view, other than certain Persian ones that happened to also agree with the Jewish idea of the fundamental unity of body and spirit. Nor in fact is it clear that our spirits "ascend" to heaven. This is taught nowhere in the Bible (that is, specifically, "ascension" of spirits). Pikachu is confusing Christian cartoons with Christian theology. Where does the spirit go in this view? We don't know. There is some argument for an intermediate state of semi-consciousness (see here) which will not be resolved until we are re-united with the body. Either way Pikachu is wide of the mark and assuming too much. |
