Let's be honest: Without telescopes or stuff like that, you can only guess what the universe is like. So it's no surprise to see ideas about the shape of the universe that are similar in all cultures.

The problem for Pikachu is, there's no relevant teaching in Jewish and Christian scriptures about this. None. The Bible is equivocal about such things -- which by itself makes it a cut above.

So when Pikachu mutters about how Christians adopted the Pagan cosmology, you need to take that with a grain of salt. They did, actually -- but it didn't have a thing to do with their religion.

And you also won't find a thing in Christianity (or Judaism) about souls ascending to the moon and leaving the body on earth. The body IS left behind for a while, yes -- but it will be restored in resurrection. There's no other religion that holds that view, other than certain Persian ones that happened to also agree with the Jewish idea of the fundamental unity of body and spirit. Nor in fact is it clear that our spirits "ascend" to heaven. This is taught nowhere in the Bible (that is, specifically, "ascension" of spirits). Pikachu is confusing Christian cartoons with Christian theology.

Where does the spirit go in this view? We don't know. There is some argument for an intermediate state of semi-consciousness (see here) which will not be resolved until we are re-united with the body. Either way Pikachu is wide of the mark and assuming too much.

Oh yes -- Pikachu of course reels off the old canard about Galileo. The issue had nothing to do with not being able to "see Heaven" or any such nonsense as that. For the real deal, see here and here. Now when you read about God on High and Jesus ascending into heaven and coming down from Heaven, you'll know it had nothing to do with pagan cosmology.
