Here we go again. Catch all the rest of the action that didn't merit Gold here.

From the Mailbag

Nothing worthy again this month. Can you believe it?

The April 2011 John Loftus Collection

Nothing special for John, except that he fell for FreeFromAllGods' crap (see below). But his groupie Thom Stark wins for taking on Paul Copan. Ignorance of honor-shame dialectic in Biblical world = massive and immediate fail.

The Random Atheist Collection

James Jenkins raises the bar of evidence personally:

If you guys could just stump up with some evidence...like Gods ph no.,his Facebook page or where we can meet him for coffee...something.Until that happens all you have is "because we believe so".Not good enough guys.

Yo Lunch no longer has his own section, but he's still Gold at times, as this dialogue with others shows:

YL: For you that believe that the earth is only 6000 years old, are you going to be consist in accepting the carbon dating used to determine the age of the earth as well? If not, are you not being hypocritical?

O: Carbon dating is not used to determine the age of the earth. Nor will it be used to determine the age of these texts. Unless they found organic material buried with them.

YL: Are rocks not subjected to carbon dating? Whatever, please do not miss my point, let us not use a double stand here.

O: I don't think most rocks are made of carbon, are they?

YL: Rlling stones gather no moss . However, those that have been stationary for centuries, such as mountains, are subject to carbon dating.

O: Carbon dating is applicable only to matter that was once living. Mountains were never living things.

YL: The moss and other vegetation was!

O: That wouldn't date the mountain. Only the plant matter on top. Not the same thing. Not the same thing at all.

And then he had this, too:

The operative word is "interpreting." You see, if it were truly the "Word of God" it would need no interpretation! Do you really think that a being that is capable of creating the Universe is too stupid to communicate his Will to all in a way that could easily be understood by everyone?! How could you think so little of such a big God? Yet, all we have is a book that needs "Apologetics" and "exegesis" in order to get a grasp of all the contradictions, lies, myths, fables, inconsistencies, absurdities, atrocities, vulgarities, etc. that are rife in the Bible. Still, there are so many differing opinions as to how one verse or another should be interpreted! This leads to discord and coulntless factions and denominations, and even wars and torture for a difference of opinion on interpretation.

casegaianstfaith whines similarly:

most Christians assert that God is perfect. Which should mean he could write it in ways that people would understand. Or provide updates or something.

Hamby, on Ephesians 6:

The passage I quoted is the beginning of Ephesians 6. As you can see, itís about how men should treat their children and slaves. The text is unequivocal. Children and slaves are subservient to men. There is no asterisk encouraging us not to have slaves. The author of this text is writing plainly. Men, the children and slaves are yours. But do try to be nice to them.

MaskedMarvyl, who seems intent on making the Israelites seem like sex addicts:

Regarding slavery, did you get the part about the slave providing "satisfaction in Every way?" It seems to imply including sex on demand. It's good to be a godly slaveholder...

YT user FreeFromAllGods wins for misrepresenting my views -- as does Brett "Dumbass" Palmer for saying, as he falls for the misrepresentation:

I find it telling that he admits to having no doubts. It certainly gives foundation to his apologetics. It also tells you something about his audience. Anyone not willing to entertain the possibility of being wrong isn't interested in uncovering or discussing the truth. They are only interested in promoting and defending their beliefs. Where's the quest for knowledge in THAT?

The Confused Christian Collection

Award to a local megachurch pastor for doing a sermon on proofs of the existence of God. He talked about the cosmological, design, and moral arguments in glowing terms. I was elated. Then in the last 5 minutes he blew it all away with the point, "But your personal testimony is the best argument of all!"

zviabatel has the next Bible codes book:

i am researching book of proverbs with anciant biblical code not computerized, this leaded me to a huge reveal of the bible internet,it works just like "windows" or rooms, and its all in the sentence itself, leading to another sentence and another book bringing more info more details, ask questions and nswer them, its not easy as windows couse one needs to search for the answers within the sentence. what i get is sometimes the subject is tottaly diferent then what the sentence is about and sometimes brings more info.there is also a posibility of having few subject at the same sentence and i need to dig inside and fined it,the results are amazing, bringing new concepts, answering questions to so much open questions,it talks about the erarchy of heavens, about angels, about the mesiah, about the holocoust, the whole story of yeshua and maria, places, historical people, events, years, events from the past and to the futer, finding lost people and atc, it also bring some new concepts to judaism that are truths but are not exepten by judaism nore by christianity but its main target is to bring peace among these two religions.

i am an independent bible researcher, have no university degree , i dont know how i should write a research, i have wrote hundred or thousands of pages, dont know what to do with it and how to make someone recognize it exiaststance...what do you think i should do ?

franktalk, on th recent "lead tablets" discovery:

I would prefer that the whole thing is a hoax. If it is deemed to be from the first century then it may be given great worth. What if it is some child's toy and not meant to be serious. Maybe it is an ancient form of email.

Reader story of someone's Facebook post:

God's Amazing and Good: So, I took the bus to get to the train station today only to find out that I missed the stop I needed in order to make it to my train on time. So, I pulled out my blackberry and called Waterloo taxi in order to catch the bus and it got me there with 3 minutes to spare for exactly $10 even. God made sure I had $20 in my wallet in cash, and I specifically asked Him to not let the fair go over $10.00. I also did not think that I would need cash for a taxi and I probably would not have gotten some had God not prompted me last night to go get change @ Zehrs... God is good!

Please no saying that this was just a set of coincidences in the comments because it was not- It WAS GOD, and I don't appreciate "coincidences" being forced onto me.

And All The Rest

Mormon Jo is an epistemological disaster as usual:

There isn't even any definitive physical proof of Jesus' existence. We walk in faith. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God. We have faith in these beliefs which is confirmed through the power of the Holy Ghost. Period.

Screwball to the judge who thought this was a good idea:

Judge gives 'Juror No. 799' indefinite jury duty after she makes racist remarks on questionnaire: An incensed federal judge sentenced a racist Brooklyn woman to indefinite jury duty on Tuesday after she trashed the NYPD and minorities. "This is an outrage, and so are you!" Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis told the woman, holding up her bile-filled juror questionnaire. Juror No. 799, an Asian woman in her 20s who said she works in the garment industry, was up for jury duty in the death penalty trial of Bonanno crime boss Vincent (Vinny Gorgeous) Basciano. It didn't take long for her to start looking worse than the defendant.

Reader tells this story:

I stopped by for a bite at a fast food restaurant this morning and since the drive through line was long and because it was empty inside I went in. Two of the cashiers were having a conversation with the boy laughing about how when his grandparents would get ready to go to church and still ask if anyone wanted to go with them even though nobody else has gone for years. This led the girl to make the following remark: "I could believe in Jesus except for the way they portray him as being some sort of super Christian."
